Tom and Barbara fall out with their neighbours when they start making noise at 6am in the morning. They try to alter their sleep pattern in order to be in tune with mother nature but nothing goes to plan.
Pinky the pig goes into labour in the middle of the night and Margo and Jerry are enlisted to help. All goes well but the final piglet to be born is a runt and Tom feels it's unprofitable to help it survive but everyone else think otherwise.
Tom and Barbara need to earn some money to pay for their new mode of transport so they offer to work for Margo as her domestics have taken a months holiday in Canada.
Tom and Barbara meet someone at their allotment who swears that talking to his crops encourages them to grow. Tom thinks it's nonsense but decides to put it to a scientific test.
After she is successfully elected as President of the Music Society, Margo decides to build an arbour and windbreak in her garden. Problem is it casts a huge shadow over Tom and Barbara's crops, so they try to encourage her to move the windbreak.
After taking a bath at Margo and Jerry's house Tom and Barbara realise they've got fleas. They contact the council and inform them of the fleas and they send out an inspector who quickly confirms that the fleas have come from a dog.
Barbara starts to feel that she is treated more as one of the lads than a girly female and she begins to lament her lost femininity and Tom makes matters worse by being unsympathetic.
